Services & Products

GeoSUN specialises in specifying, installing, monitoring and maintaining on-site solar-meteorological stations. This is one of GeoSUN’s core services and more than 150 stations have been installed in various countries throughout the world.

Combining ground measurements of at least 12 months with site-specific satellite derived data yields the most accurate resource assessment.

GeoSUN provides turnkey measurement solutions: clients provide us with
measurement locations, and we deliver accurate, bankable ground-measured
data following installation. Common measurements include solar irradiation,
soiling, albedo, and comprehensive meteorological parameters. With
tailored solutions and globally available rental stations, we ensure reliable data
to support low-risk project development and investment decisions.

GeoSUN provides soiling measurement studies for PV developers. Accurate, site-specific soiling loss data is essential for optimizing energy yield assessments, cleaning strategies, and long-term performance of PV plants.

This service is offered worldwide and includes continuous monitoring, data analysis, and interpretation to determine representative soiling losses for project-specific yield calculations.

GeoSUN provides short-term and long-term albedo measurement studies for PV developers. Reliable site-specific albedo information is required when bifacial PV technology is considered. This service is offered worldwide.

GeoSUN highly recommends the Solargis Prospect online tool. It was developed for the accurate and efficient estimation of solar energy potential and PV yields during the pre-feasibility phase.

GeoSUN provides turn-key permanent monitoring weather stations for PV and CSP plants. The service include:

  • Specify and design
  • Detailed drawings (electrical and mechanical)
  • Installation and commissioning
  • Training to O&M staff
  • Ongoing support
  • Annual on-site calibration of solar and meteorological instruments

GeoSUN provides bespoke solutions in accordance with IEC 61724-1:2021 Photovoltaic system performance – Part 1: Monitoring.

Many PV projects under construction test a sample of PV modules prior to installation – sometimes referred to as incoming goods inspection. This can be achieved on-site by utilising mobile test equipment or in a conventional PV lab.

GeoSUN offers accredited tests that include:

  • Maximum Power (Flash) Test
  • Electroluminescence (EL)
  • Visual Inspection
  • Electrical Insulation (HiPot) Test

GeoSUN is the African representative, support and reseller of the MBJ PV Test Equipment.

GeoSUN offers calibration services according to the ISO 9847 (pyranometers) and ISO 9059 (pyrheliometers) since 2015. This service is provided to utility-scale solar facilities, universities as well as any other radiometer owners. All brands and models can be calibrated.

A complete on-site calibration service is provided by GeoSUN’s specially developed mobile calibration laboratory. Alternatively, equipment can be sent for laboratory calibration at the GeoSUN offices.

GeoSUN has completed calibrations in 20+ countries and 70+ solar plants since the service has been established in 2015.

GeoSUN also offers general service and repairs of pyranometers and pyrheliometers sensors.

GeoSUN offers calibration services of meteorological instruments typically deployed on permanent monitoring weather stations at solar power plants or field weather stations.

  • A complete on-site service is provided. Alternatively, the instruments can be sent for laboratory calibration at the GeoSUN offices.
  • GeoSUN also offers general service and repairs of meteorological sensors.

GeoSUN offers aerial thermographic PV module inspection services by drone.

A turn-key service is provided with a detailed report and actionable results and on-line data portal.

A high resolution thermal and visual image of each defected PV module is provided. Defects are classified according to the type of defect and the severity.

GeoSUN offers various accredited laboratory as well as on-site PV module testing services.

The tests offered include, but are not limited to:

  • Annual degradation testing (in an accredited lab)
  • On-site module testing with a mobile lab
  • Plant damage assessments
  • Plant under performance assessments
  • End of warranty or transfer of ownership inspections
